(first) home

We have been feeling slightly under the weather over here. Really feeling more blah than sick, it still stinks though. Since I've just been hanging around the house, I thought I would share some fun photos of our homes. From the first home David and I shared, to now.
Sound like fun?
Great! Grab a cup of coffee and hang out for a bit.
Maybe you will get a good chuckle out of our homes different styles and the changes that have occurred.
I have. *wink

Our first home.......
Photos are from the day we moved in to a couple months before we moved out.

*note....this South Park poster left our house shortly after it arrived.

This room went through the most dramatic transformation. One of my amazing brothers covered the wall of mirrors and my mom and one of my sisters did the painting before the boys were born. They were a huge help getting our nursery ready for babies. Thanks guys!

I guess I'll have to make this a three part series.
Next home coming soon!

 *Fun fact about my blog:
I already passed the total number of posts from previous years and we are only in October.
Silly, but I'm pretty excited about it. :o)

Hello baby

A wonderful friend of mine had a sweet new baby several weeks ago.
Yesterday, we went out to celebrate.
Dunkin Donuts opened in our town a week or so ago, so it is the new hot spot.
Plus, you can't go wrong with their donuts. So good!
(note: I resisted the donuts and only had a coffee, way to go, ME!)

My assistant wanted in on this photo shoot. Silly sweet boy!

I think this is my new favorite quilt. The colors and style are so pretty, I am going to have to make another one for myself. : )

Homemade graham crackers. S'mores. Best graham crackers ever.
Late night dinner at Five Guys with my three guys. So fun. Perfect night to eat outside too.

Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Hooray for Fall and everything pumpkin!
We all know that Starbucks makes a mean pumpkin spice latte but who wants fork over that kind cash every time you want one?!
So, a couple years ago I went looking for a recipe I could make at home. I found a recipe for them over at The Kitchn and blogged about them back in 2010.
Oh, my gosh! They are amazing!
Delicious and easy on my wallet.....score!

 Pumpkin Spice Lattes

2 c. milk
2 T. canned pumpkin
2 T. sugar
2 T. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. strong coffee for each mug

In a saucepan combine milk, pumpkin, and sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until steaming. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and spice, transfer to a glass blender. Process for 15 seconds until foamy.
Pour into a couple of mugs. Add the coffee. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg or both.

*A little homemade whipped cream on top.......a little like heaven.

If you like pumpkin spice lattes, we will love these. Try them!

Celebrating now.

Cool weather this morning with the windows and porch door open.
Breathing in the fresh Autumn air.
Two boys in pj's venturing out to play.
Living in the simplicity of now.

Minnie and her puppy were doing some digging in the flower pots.

The photos from this morning are my new favorites. They capture the essence of my life right now.
Reminding me to celebrate the little things.

What makes you stop and remember the little things?
