the day...............................................

We had the best Christmas.
Very restful & full of peaceful, quiet time as a family.
(Well, as quiet as it can be with two boys and noisy toys. lol)
I think Brett and Favre agree.
They had a great time this year unwrapping their gifts and playing with all the new toys.
The newest addition to our family was their favorite.

Kitty..........we haven't given him a proper name yet.

I think "Mr. Jingles" is a great name but it's still undecided.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas day yourself!

weekend love

Good morning.

Welcome Monday.

The weekend went by quickly while we soaked up all the cool, beautiful weather outside. I don't know about you but when it's nice outside that's where I want to be. It doesn't matter what we do, I just want to be able to enjoy the cool, breezy air.

Also, Happy October!

I almost forgot we entered it a couple days ago. September sped by for me but then again it seems that way for every month. Like how did we get through this year so quickly?! You know?

Friday..................................................

Night. A friend of mine had a birthday. With a party. At a restaurant. Which means I got to wear something more grown up than my usual flip flops.

Not too high. These are about my speed right now. lol

Saturday.................................................

I made this for lunch. It's Panera Bread's Fuji Apple salad that I absolutely love. We don't have a PB close to where we live so I was over the moon when I found the dressing at Target. Thank you, Target! You're the best!

The salad consists of:
Romaine lettuce
slices of red onion
tomato wedges
Gorgonzola cheese
crisp apple chips
toasted pecans

I couldn't find crisp apple chips, so I made my own.
Here's what I did:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Cut a whole apple in thin slices. Lay in a single layer on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour. Turn slices over and bake an additional 30-60 minutes. It takes some time for the apple slices to dry out. Cool and enjoy. Store leftover chips in an airtight container.

Late afternoon, we took the boys downtown for a walk and a run in front of the State Capitol building.

I love how this photo captures Favre running. It's beautiful to me.

Sunday............................

The boys and I had a spontaneous picnic at the playground here at home.

Football was on our TV most of the day.
Way to go Saints! They won yesterday but don't ask me anything else about the game. I have no clue!

Sporting my new Saints shirt. Yeah, my husband is pretty happy about this.
He has wanted me to get one for a while and now I have one.
He's funny and I love him.

I also made a pumpkin bundt cake. It's pretty yummy. I'll share the recipe with you tomorrow.

So, that was our weekend. I'd love to know what you did this weekend.
Leave a comment and let me know.

Update & Weekend Lens

Wow! It's been a while since I typed a post here.
We've been super busy with our move and getting settled again so, I guess it's understandable.

I missed blogging in the midst of all that was going on. It feels good to be back.

Confession: I didn't pick up my camera for almost three weeks. Eek!!!
After picking it up again I feel so much better. I don't know that I can put into words what taking pictures does for my creative soul but let's just say it's like breathing for me.
Hmm......that sounds a little weird but it's true. Okay, enough of the sappy stuff. :o)

It's been almost a month now since we moved. That's hard to believe! I LOVE our new home though.
Pictures are coming soon!

For now here's one of some boxes at the old apartment.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Monday!

August 17, 2011

hello again

For some reason I lost track of time and have failed to post anything in a while. It could be all the craziness going on in my head, getting ready to move and all but here I am. This is just a few of the things we've been up to lately.

We went for snow cones but this is the only photo I have.
My little boys were not into them at all.
They really aren't into ice cream either so I'm not surprised.

This one was mine. Yes, it did turn my mouth red but it was well worth it at the time.
Bahama Mama.......Mmmm!

I broke down and bought an inflatable pool for out on the porch.
We'll only be able to use it until we move but it's already been well worth it.
They absolutely love it and beg for it daily.
I just love these happy little faces.

My amazing husband had a few weeks off of school recently. (He's back to class now and we miss him terribly in the evenings.) While he was home though, we tried to live it up as much as possible.
We're quite wild, going to the park after dinner before it gets dark, taking the boys to Chick-Fil-A just to play on the playground and sometimes get ice cream. Hee hee

I promise to post again soon with some of the projects I've been working on. Some are almost done others far from it but I'll save that for next time.

Enjoy the last bit of summer. Or maybe you're already celebrating the first day of school.
Either way, have a great day!

Quilt & Sweet Moments

Yesterday I finished a quilt I've been working on for 10 years. Yes, you read that right, 10 years. I have to say though that the reason it took me so long to finish it is simply because I failed to work on it AT ALL. We're talking I sewed all my squares together, base stitched (not sure that's an actual term) my quilt top, batting, and backing together and started quilting a few squares but then I just lost my steam. So, I've carried it with me all these years, I've forgotten about it several times, pulled it out a few times only to quilt a few squares and put it away again. But a few weeks ago, I found it again and decided once and for all to finish it. The fabric may be a little dated and definitely isn't something I'd pick out now but it's nice and it's cozy. Favre absolutely loves it and Brett wanted to get his share of cozy time with it too. Favre is a lover of all things cozy...........blankets, his blankie, stuffed animals, pillows, soft towels. lol He's a little snuggler!
I'm just thrilled to finally have it completed. I washed it today and it's simply perfect, if only it were colder outside.

Afternoon watercolors.

Handy Manny paint pages were a big hit.

They usually fall asleep together in one of their beds. It's one of the sweetest things to me.
